Beer Can Turkey Chili

Brew up some hearty flavor with this Beer Can Turkey Chili. Whether you're using up leftover turkey or starting with our Beer Can Turkey Breast, this chili is loaded up with beans, fire roasted tomatoes, jalapeno, spices, and plenty of malty beer flavors. 

Beer Can Turkey Chili

Cook time: 60 minutes
Serves: 6

Ingredients:

2 T Olive Oil
1 Yellow Onion, chopped
Celery Stalks, chopped
Garlic Clove, minced
Jalapeno, minced
2 T Cock-a-Doodle Brew Rub 
1 T  Chili Powder`
1 T  Corander, ground
1 T  Cumin, ground 
1/2 T  Oregano, dried
24 oz.  Beer 
28 oz.  Fire Roasted Tomatoes 
15 oz. Black Beans, drained
15 oz.  Pinto Beans, drained
1 1/2 lbs.  Beer Can Turkey Breast, sliced thinly

 

Instructions:

  1. Heat olive oil in a deep pot or Dutch oven over medium heat, then sauté the onion and celery for 3 minutes.  Add the garlic and jalapeño and continue to sauté until garlic is fragrant.  Add the Cock-A-Doodle Brew, chili powder, coriander, cumin, and dried oregano, then stir to combine.

  2. Pour all the beer into the pot, scraping any brown bits from the bottom.  Stir in the tomatoes, black beans, pinto beans, and turkey.  Bring to a simmer, then partially cover and continue to simmer for 1 hour.

  3. Remove from the heat, then serve Beer Can Turkey Chili warm.

Slow-cooker method:  Follow instructions through adding beer, then carefully transfer to a slow-cooker.  Stir in remaining ingredients, then cook on high for 2 to 3 hours, or on low for 4 to 6 hours.
