Mouthwatering on every level! French Onion Soup now comes in a dip! Velvety caramelized onions smothered in butter and creamy cheese is prime for the dipping. Dunking just got more delicious!
Ingredients
-
5 Medium Onions
-
1/2 Stick Butter- Unsalted
-
2 Pkg Cream Cheese
-
2 C Shredded Cheese
-
3 T Prime Time Buttery Beef Rub
-
1 Baguette
-
2 T Olive Oil
-
TT Salt and Pepper
Directions
Julienne the onions and place them in a large sauté pan with ½ stick of butter.
Place over medium high heat for 4-6 minutes, stirring often, until the onions become translucent.
Set the heat to very low and allow the onions to caramelize. Stirring occasionally. This will take 2 hours or more. (This is a long part of the process, but the real caramelized onion flavor is worth it)
Once the onions are caramelized, combine the cream cheese, onions, 1 cup of gruyere and Prime Time in a bowl and mix well.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Spread the dip in a medium sized cast iron or baking dish.
Place in the oven for 30 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 165 degrees.
Cut the baguette into ¼” slices and place on a sheet tray. Drizzle the bread lightly with olive oil and season with salt and pepper.
Place in the oven and toast, about 20 minutes.
Remove the dip from the oven and sprinkle with the remaining cup of gruyere cheese. Melt and brown the cheese with a torch or under the broiler.
Garnish with chopped parsley and serve the dip with the crostini.
