A simple and easy mashed potato recipe with a smoky twist. Heavy cream and whole cloves of garlic are smoked to infuse flavor then mixed into fluffy boiled mashed potatoes.
Ingredients
- 3 LB – Potatoes
- 1 TB – Kosher Salt
- 1 ½ Cup – Heavy Cream
- 1 Stick – Butter, Unsalted
- 4 Clove – Garlic
- 3 TB – Backyard Better Burger Seasoning
Directions
- Pour the cream into a metal or foil tray and gently place in a stick of butter.
- Peel and smash the garlic cloves and add it to the cream.
- Preheat your smoker to 180 degrees on the smoke setting.
- Fill a sawdust pan ½ full with sawdust and dampen with water.
- Place the sawdust pan directly on the heating element.
- Place the pan of cream in the smoker and smoker for 1 hour.
- While the cream is smoking, peel the potatoes and dice them into 2” chunks.
- Place the potatoes into a pot ½ full with cold water. Add salt to the water.
- Place the pot over high heat and bring to a boil. Once boiling, lower heat to maintain a rolling boil.
- Cook the potatoes until fork tender.
- Strain the potatoes and remove the cream from the smoker.
- Remove the garlic cloves from the smoked cream.
- Mash the potatoes and stir in the smoked cream.
- Season to your liking with Backyard seasoning and serve right away.
