Ingredients

8 – Apples, Gala
Peeled, cored and quartered

1 C – Sugar
-
¼ C – Apple Juice or Cider
-
2 T – Apple Pie Rub

2 t – Vanilla Extract
- 1 stick - Butter
- 1 Sheet – Puff Pastry
Directions
- Preheat oven to 425 degrees.
- In a 12” cast iron skillet, combine the apple cider, sugar and Apple Pie rub. Place over medium heat and cook until the sugar dissolves, stirring constantly.
- Lower heat to medium low and cook until a rich amber color.
- Arrange the apples, round side down in the caramel and simmer on low for 45 minutes until the apples are tender. Meanwhile, thaw the puff pastry if needed.
- Remove from heat.
- Cover the pan with the puff pasty and tuck in the edges into the pan.
- Place the pan in the oven and cook for 20-25 minutes until the puff pastry is golden brown.
- Remove from the oven a rest for 10 minutes.
- Place a serving platter over the puff pastry and carefully flip the pan over.
- Remove the cast iron and serve warm with whipped cream
