Korean BBQ Sloppy Joes

Anything but basic, these sloppy joes get an upgrade with our sweet and tangy Korean BBQ Sauce. 

Korean BBQ Sloppy Joes

Cook time: 15 minutes
Serves: 4

Ingredients:

1 1/4 lbs.  Ground Beef
1/2 tsp  Sesame Oil
1/2  Red Onion, minced
2 Garlic Cloves, grated
1 tsp

Ginger, grated

1/2  Lime, zest
1 1/2 tsp Kosher Salt and Pepper
3/4 cup  Black Belt Korean BBQ Sauce 
Sesame Rolls, toasted
Slaw
2 cups

Slaw Mix

1/2  Lime, juiced
1/2 T Sesame Oil 
1/2 T  Rice Vinegar
1 tsp

Honey

1/2 tsp Kosher Salt & Pepper
1 T Cilantro, chopped
Scallions, sliced
1 tsp  Sesame Seeds, toasted

 

Instructions:

  1. Heat a skillet over medium heat/flame.

  2. Add the ground beef, breaking it apart into large crumbles, with a wooden spoon.  Brown for 5 minutes, then strain excess fat.  To the hot skillet add sesame oil, then stir in the red onion, garlic, ginger, lime zest, and Seoul Train.  Sauté for 1 minute, to soften onions, then add cooked beef and Black Belt.  Stir mixture, occasionally, for 2 minutes, then remove from heat.

  3. Meanwhile, prepare the slaw:  In a mixing bowl, whisk together lime juice, sesame oil, rice vinegar, honey, Seoul Train, and cilantro.  Stir in the slaw mix, then set aside.

  4. Assemble the sloppy Joes:  Bottom bun, slaw mix, beef, scallions, sesame seeds, top bun.  Serve warm.
